FA VASE hat-trick hero Lamin Janneh continued from where he left off on Wednesday night, but he could not stop his Silsden side from sliding to a 3-1 defeat at Winterton Rangers.

Janneh netted in the 34th minute in the midweek Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash, but his side had already conceded twice by that point.

Silsden fought in vain to equalise, but instead conceded a late third, as hosts Winterton claimed the three points.

After Talent Ndlovu struck wide from range early on for the Cobbydalers, it was Rangers who took the lead after 14 minutes, when Paul Grimes finished nicely after a ball over the top.

Josh Walker doubled the home side's advantage soon after, with a neat finish into the corner.

Brad Riley then headed over the bar for Silsden before young defender Harry Parsons was forced off with injury.

James Grogan cleared the crossbar for the Cobbydalers from range, before Janneh did halve the deficit.

A superb pass from Riley cut open the Winterton defence, and Janneh kept his cool to lift the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Arale Mohamed was denied an equaliser early in the second half by a brilliant diving save from Nathan Popple.

But Rangers were left wondering how they had not restored their two-goal lead moments later, after they hit the post then blazed the rebound over the bar.

Janneh went off injured just after the hour mark, and Silsden's evening got worse when they conceded a third with 15 minutes to go, Walker netting his second with a smart finish.

Both sides missed late chances, Silsden's coming courtesy of Arley Barnes, as the game finished 3-1 in the home side's favour.

The defeat saw Silsden drop to 10th in the table, but they are only three points off third-placed Eccleshill United.

The Cobbydalers have a home league game tomorrow, as they face early strugglers Knaresborough Town.
