ZACHARY Maxwell is the toast of Aire Valley Martial Arts Club, after claiming gold at the European Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Wolverhampton.
The Aire Valley standout prospect has been winning competitions all year and had set his sights on winning some of the bigger events.
And these European Championships had competitors from all over the continent flying in, with the level of competition incredible.
Head Junior Coach Mya Thompson said: "Zach had trained hard along with his team-mate Sophie Allen to prepare for this event.
"He had been drilling specific guard passing sequences and he did very well to land the choke he had been practicing for weeks."
