CHRIS Melling will be going up against some of the world's best pool players from Monday.

The week-long Premier League Pool tournament, organised by Matchroom, pits 16 of the world's best players against each other in an exhilarating league format at the Morningside Arena in Leicester.

The nine-ball tournament will see the Keighley potter go up against good friend Jayson Shaw, as well as World Champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and iconic American Earl Strickland.

All 16 players will face each other once across the first five days of play, with the bottom six in the league table eliminated after that.

The remaining 10 players will go up against each other again across days six and seven before four more are eliminated

The remaining half-a-dozen play each other once more on day eight before the top four contest the play-offs to decide who ends up as champion on Monday, March 13.

All group matches are a race to five frames, with the alternate break format in place.
