COWLING are through to the Mewies Solicitors Craven League’s Wynn Cup final.

They will meet fellow Division One side Gargrave on Sunday, August 6 at the Airedale Oval after both won their semi-finals last Sunday.

Cowling’s tie was switched from Riddlesden to Keighley Road at short notice, due to better weather prospects, and home side Cowling put in Eldwick & Gilstead, who made 152-8, with the wickets being shared.

Rahman Ali then scored 83 and skipper Martyn Dalby 27 as Cowling breezed home inside 29 overs to win by eight wickets.

Gargrave dismissed Hepworth & Idle for 103 at Westfield Lane, winning by four wickets.

Ironically, the two finalists met in the league on Saturday, with Gargrave in bother at 48-4 when rain stopped play, Connor Brown taking 3-21.

With Cowling being halted by the weather, Riddlesden took advantage to move 10 points clear by winning a battle of landlords and tenants at Grange Road.

Tenants Eldwick & Gilstead made 171, with Moin Ahsan (3-58) and Mohammed Arshad (3-36) both among the wickets.

Riddlesden opener Ehsan Khan then laid the groundwork for Riddlesden’s win with 70, and Zahir Abbas (40) and skipper Mohammed Gulnawaz (25 not out) helped them over the line.

Meanwhile, Denholme moved off the bottom with a fine two-wicket win at third-from-bottom Wilsden, who declared on 183-9, Ryan Judson taking 4-37.

Then Richard Taylor, who hit seven fours and two sixes in his 53, made off 72 balls, Adam Taylor (31) and Adam Khan (49no) contributed to Denholme winning in the 39th over.

Hepworth & Idle were 76-2 at Haworth when that match was abandoned, while there was no play at Sutton, where Haworth Road Meths were the visitors.

No match was completed in Division Two, with not a ball being bowled at Airedale (v Ingrow), Glusburn (v Bradford & Bingley III), Hepworth & Idle II (v Bradley) or Long Lee (v Silsden).

Two matches finished in Division Three, and Cononley suffered their first league defeat of the season – at title rivals Bowling Baptist.

Cononley, sent in, were rolled over for 79, with only Andrew Starkey (22), Scott Brook (12) and Edward Washington (13) reaching double figures.

The Scotchman Road hosts won by eight wickets inside 16 overs to go nine points clear of Cononley, who in turn are 33 points in front of Gargrave II.

The latter were the only other team to win, defeating visitors Cowling II by four wickets after dismissing them for 75, with Reyan Hassan (26), Avijeet Ghosh (13) and Ubaid Rauf (15) the only players to trouble the scorers unduly.

Rauf then took 4-29 in the reply.

Play barely got underway at Skipton CI II, who made 21-0 against Haworth II, while the only match to start in Division Four was at Silsden II, who were 29-0 against Bowling Baptist II when the game was called off.
