Overnight rain took a heavy toll on matches in the ENCO Halifax League, with 10 first-team games, including those at Oxenhope and Oakworth, being called off without a ball being bowled.

That leaves Oxenhope 16 points clear of the drop in the Premier Division, with eight games to go, and Oakworth in mid-table in the Second Division.

However, six matches survived, and all were played to a finish.

In the Second Division, Stones, on their visit to Cullingworth, followed the pattern of the day and asked the third-placed hosts to bat.

Following another poor start, at 26-3, the threesome of Jordan Swaine (70no), Elliot Robinson (65) and Bilal Khalid (53) more than rectified the situation as Cullingworth closed on 224-5 in their reduced 36 overs.

Credit to Elicia Pollard, who removed the top of the order to finish with 5-81 from 12 overs.

In reply, Stones’ middle and lower order never appeared to continue the initial good scoring rate set by openers Gary Hulme (43) and Ethan Mosey (25).

William Thickett hit 38 and the innings closed on 158-9, with the last pair thwarting a maximum-points haul for the hosts.

That means third-placed Cullingworth are now a point off the promotion places.
