A first ladies’ event in 91 years has been held at Haworth Central Park Bowling Club, and it proved to be a fantastic success.
The very first Ladies Club Championship, was conducted on the club’s bowling green as six lady members took part in a knockout tournament.
During the afternoon, there were some very close-fought matches but there was a clear winner and runner up.
The winner’s trophy was presented by the club chairperson, along with a bottle of champagne, with the runner-up also awarded a bottle of bubbly.
The day drew a large crowd of members, friends and family who enjoyed the competition in the glorious sunshine, and this will now be an annual event in the future for the club.
The club said: “It was an exciting demonstration of exceptional bowling skills and would certainly have put many professional bowlers to the test.
“The club is making great strides in the community by involving all generations in fun events with exciting modern bowling equipment suitable for everyone.”
