SILSDEN grabbed their first win of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division season, holding on with 10 men to beat Rossington Main 1-0 away from home.

After an even start with chances for either side, the Cobbydalers took the lead after 24 minutes, when Casey Stewart turned home Jake Maltby’s low cross at the back post.

Maltby dragged a shot just wide before Stewart went close to an outrageous second, but he was just off target with his lofted effort.

But Silsden’s No.10, Dom Craig, picked up two quick yellow cards, perhaps controversially, and was sent off on the stroke of half-time.

Rossington pushed on in the final quarter of the game but good defending, including a block on the line from T’Nique Fishley, and solid goalkeeping from Kyle Trennery kept them out.

Kayle Price and Stewart then went close to doubling Silsden’s lead, before Rossington hit the bar with a header at the death.
