KEIGHLEY MP Robbie Moore has paid tribute to a junior football club.

He praised the efforts of Silsden AFC Juniors during a visit to the Keighley Road ground, when he met with volunteers to discuss current challenges and future plans.

Nearly 400 children from across the district are registered with the club.

Mr Moore was given a tour of the facilities and heard about the severe impact of heavy rainfall this winter, which had led to the cancellation of home games.

He says: "It was fantastic to meet with volunteers from Silsden AFC Juniors. They work incredibly hard to keep the club going from strength to strength.

"As an entirely volunteer-led club, I can’t thank enough the 50 dedicated coaches, training assistants and wider team helpers for giving up their valuable time so regularly – as well as the fantastic players who make Silsden AFC Juniors so great.

"It was good to be able to have a chat about future plans, and talk about current challenges the club faces, with some of the pitches in need of drainage works to improve the surfaces. I am looking forward to getting involved and exploring steps to help alleviate these issues going forward."
