Bronte Wanderers have become the third Keighley-based team to drop out of the West Riding County Amateur League in the last three seasons.

The Marley-based Haworth club have pulled both their sides out ahead of the impending campaign following a player exodus.

Long Lee had to pull the plug on their Division Two side 12 months ago, while Keighley Shamrocks withdrew mid-season in January 2010. Lack of players were cited as the reason in both cases.

Club spokesman Steve Bainbridge said Bronte had not folded and he hoped a team could be resurrected in the future.

Having joined the Craven League in 1993 and moved up the pyramid to the top flight – where they stayed for five seasons – Bronte entered the West Riding County Amateur League in 2008.

They won Division Two at the first attempt and claimed the title again in 2009 but have struggled in recent seasons in Division One.
