STERN defence in the opening half hour paved the way for Wibsey to make it two wins out of two in Yorkshire Division Four North West.

The visitors saw little of the ball in that phase of their 31-10 victory at Burley, during which Luke Wilson was sin-binned for persistent offside, but the hosts could only land a penalty.

Bruce Mpofu's break set up Elliot Cousins for Wibsey's first try, which Andy Robinson converted, and the latter also added a penalty to give the visitors a 10-3 interval lead having played up the slope.

Wibsey then cashed in during the second half, with Jamie Vogel christening his new boots with a 44th-minute try that was improved by Robinson.

Ross Simpson got on the end of a forwards' move to score ten minutes later, with Robinson again adding the extras, before Burley were awarded a penalty try as Wibsey were again adjudged to be offside.

In the last play of the game, Wibsey got their bonus-point try when Robinson beat the home full back four times before putting the supporting Jordan Payton in for a try.

Robinson, who added the conversion, was pipped for the man-of-the-match award by flanker Scott Smith, who put in a sterling tackling stint.
