STEETON’S award -winning singers will unveil a revitalised repertoire when they begin their 2018 concert season this month.

Steeton Male Voice Choir will perform at Bingley Arts Centre on Sunday, March 25 under the watchful eye of new musical director Catherine Sweet.

The choir will go on to concerts in 2018 at Skipton, Silsden, Cowling, East Morton, and Cliffe Castle in Keighley.

Catherine began working with the long-established choir of more than 50 men in July last year.

Publicity officer David Barraclough said: “She has brought not only a wealth of experience but also a new burst of energy and quality that is reaping its rewards amongst the Steeton choristers, and naturally being enjoyed by our audiences.

“Catherine was literally flung in at the ‘deep end’ with literally a few weeks to prepare for her first concert and only two months before our prestigious Annual Concert held every year in Ilkley.

“In the six months that she has been with us there has been a clear transformation.”

Mr Barraclough said the choir was hoping for a full house when it plays Bingley Arts Centre for the first time.

He added: “After the Arts Centre the Steeton juggernaut will rumble on to Christ Church, Skipton, on April 7 where we are joining the Clark Community Choir from Musselburgh, Scotland.

“Our Annual Concert is once again in the magnificent King’s Hall in Ilkley, on October 20, when we will be joined by the City of Bradford Brass Band.”

The choir will return to Skipton on September 15 for a concert at Holy Trinity Church. This year’s mini tour will be to Whitby in July, to perform with the Dalesmen Singers.
