RESIDENT volunteers in Oakworth have finished improvements to a footpath at Griffe Woods on the outskirts of the village.
The path was completed with a professionally-laid coating of limestone by Simon Thornton.
The materials were funded by Keighley town councillor Peter Corkindale from part of his Ward Improvement Fund, with a smaller donation from Bradford Council’s Rights of Way Department.
The path was improved as part of Oakworth’s A Lot Less Muddy Underfoot project, which has involved residents, local organisations and politicians overseen by community worker Pip Gibson.
She said: “The path had its surface scraped by the Rights of Way team earlier this year. Simon donated his time to laying the limestone. The landowner gave permission for the work to be carried out.
“Over the years and especially last winter, this path had become virtually impassable. Many thanks to all concerned and especially Keighley Town Council for continued support of all things ‘community’.”
